The certified trade fair statistics provided by the FKM – Society for Voluntary Control of Fair and Exhibition Statistics – support exhibitors and visitors when they are deciding on trade fairs. The recently published FKM Report 2013 contains basic data and visitor analyses regarding last year’s trade fairs. This information is also available online at www.fkm.de along with data on numerous trade fairs that took place in the first half of 2014.

Last year a total of 55 German organisers who are members of the FKM had their trade fairs certified according to consistent rules. As well as basic data on 187 events, such as numbers of exhibitors, stand spaces and numbers of visitors, the FKM gives a breakdown of trade and private visitors on 154 trade fairs, including information on the regional origins of the visitors, influences on procurement decisions and professional status.

Regarding the publication of the annual report, FKM chairman Wolfgang Marzin commented, “Today many FKM members’ websites highlight the fact that their trade fairs are certified by the FKM. This shows exhibitors and visitors that the statistics on these trade fairs are reliable and can be compared with previous results. This creates a reliable basis for planning and makes it easier to decide whether to take part in a particular trade fair or not.”

In addition to the German society members, two international guest members, the Verona Trade Fair Company and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, had 15 trade fairs certified.
